Pansy is an organic cotton underwear company. Born from a need for comfy dreamy ethical undies, their organic cotton is grown and milled domestically and their underwear are designed and sewn locally.

Not so long ago, Laura Schoorl and Rachel Corry were driving from San Francisco to Santa Barbara for dinner with Rachel's parents and got to talking. They had both been dreaming of the ideal underwear: minimal, sturdy, beautiful, locally-made underwear you can feel good wearing. They spent the next few hours of their drive imagining making the perfect underwear. It would be made entirely of organically grown natural fibers and sewn in California without a sweatshop in sight. It would be dyed without the use of toxins and made with lots and lots of love.

Pansy underwear is sewn in a factory in San Leandro, CA, a fifteen minute-drive from Laura's apartment. The organic cotton is grown in Texas and milled in North Carolina. The natural rubber/cotton elastic is made in South Carolina. The underwear is garment dyed with fiber-reactive dyes in a factory in Novato, CA. Everything we make can be thrown on your compost pile and become part of the earth again. We strive for complete transparency and are happy to answer any and every question you have about our production process. Please email us at info@pansy.co.

Laura runs Pansy full time. She also makes sandals and bags in her Oakland studio for LS. She spends the rest of her time dreaming about country life, taking still life photos of pansies, traveling to pretty places, and watching all the TV.

Nastassia Bruckin is the most Californian French girl we know and our favorite photographer. She shoots most of our campaigns. Laura and Nastassia met when Pansy was just an idea and dream up new collaborations every week.

Allison May Reilly does it all. She is our in-house pattern maker and thread snipper.

Monica Schoorl is our new studio manager. She is also Laura's sister :)
